Sightseeing in Tokyo

Tokyo, the capital of Japan is a pleasant destination for tourist. There are a number of places for sightseeing in Tokyo. The city that was destroyed in the World War II has now become a hot spot for tourist. Besides monuments, parks and shopping places, Tokyo has the best restaurants in the world.


Situated in Asakusa, Sensoji is the most interesting Buddhist temple in town. The neighborhood is full of life and vitality. It houses many shops and restaurants. The biggest Shinto Shrine in town, the Meiji Shrine is situated in a large and beautiful park with copious and attractive gardens; it is very close to Harajuku, now the hang out neighborhood for young people. The 333metres Tokyo Tower is the local answer to the Eiffel Tower; from its top observation deck you can panoramic views of whole Tokyo and its surroundings, even Mt. Fuji and beyond on a clear day. Inside the tower are the Tokyo Tower Wax Museum, the Mysterious Walking Zone and the Trick Art Gallery. Ueno Park, the first public park in Tokyo, is a must go for the visitors in the city. The park consists of several world class museums, a popular zoo, shrines, temples, a rental boat lake, historical monuments, hundred of cherry blossom trees, and a lotus pond. Not far away is Yushima Tenjin, a smallish shrine with its own plum blossom festival in February and March is worth a visit.The new Opera City development, a 50-storey skyscraper which has restaurants on top, lies adjacent to the Shin Kokuritsu Gekijo, the New National Theater. Hie Shrine is supposed to be one of the most important shrines in Tokyo. Yasukuni Shrine, on the other hand, is the official shrine to Japanese war dead, everyone from dead horses to dead war criminals. While the Meiji Jingu Shrine is Japan's most sacred and picturesque shrines.The Sony building gives an open invitation to all tech and game fans to lose yourselves in the world of Sony products. Kitanomaru Park, a segment of the northern moat of the old Edo Castle and is an attractive spot to see cherry blossoms.Next to Kitanomaru Park is The Imperial Palace East Garden. There are a couple of interesting museums, as well as the Budokan Hall, which is the site of everything from college graduation ceremonies to rock concerts. The Rainbow Bridge which is the 918 meters long and named for its changing nighttime lights is a must visit for sightseeing in Tokyo.
